SCOTT GREEN AND MARIA KOSZTOVITS WIN
LITTLE'S BP 18th ANNUAL KINGSTON SE TRIATHLON |
Scott Green has won the 18th Annual Kingston SE Triathlon, in the Open Male Section, while Maria Kosztovits has continued a six year trend (between her and her sister Edith), by winning the Open Womens event.
On Sunday, 19th February, 183 athletes took to the water, road and beach to compete in the annual event. |
| With the day running smoothly, and with fantastic weather, Matt White got out to an early lead after the swim leg, only to see Green power past him during the cycle leg, and hold on over the 10km run. Matt Stephens came in third in the open mens event. Green's winning time was 1 hour 57 minutes and 50 seconds, just eleven seconds ahead of the fast finishing White. |

| In the womens, Maria Kosztovits was never headed, and won the event easily from Sarah Cox in second. Kosztovits' winning time was 2 hours, 11 minutes, and 11 seconds. While Candice Patton was the first women out of the water, Kosztovits was never in any dange, being ahead for the entire race in the open women's event. Edith, Maria's sister, finished third. |

Two other events were completed on the day including the Short Course and Come 'n' Tri. Thomas Blair and Melissa McKinlay won the male and female Short Course event respectively, while Karl Scott and Hanne Blair won the male and female sections of the Come 'n' Tri.
The town of Kingston put on a great show for the athletes, with many showing up for the event. The new running track proved to be successful.
The Kingston SE Triathlon Club would like to congratulate both Scott and Maria on winning the event, and would also like to thank all the volunteers and organisations that helped in any way on the day, and also in the lead up to the event.
A big thankyou must be extended to all sponsors of the Kingston SE Triathlon, but especially Jim and Julie Little of Little's BP who were Corporate Sponsors of the 18th Annual Event.
